If you’re like us, you’ve already started thinking about your next summer vacation. Planning ahead insures that you can do everything that you want to do, while having the best accommodations available.
Southern Utah has a lot to offer in the summer months. In addition to the usual hiking, biking and outdoor adventures that we all enjoy, special events happen each month. This list should get you thinking about what you can do to augment your next vacation.
July 4th is a big deal in Torrey, Utah. The town puts on an Independence Day parade that is one of the best examples of a small-town America celebration. Join in the pie eating contests, shop at the flea markets for homemade goods, and check out the Entrada Institute book fair.
The Capitol Reef Classic takes place every July. Bicycle enthusiasts travel from across the globe to compete in this amazingly scenic race. There are usually three different levels to enter. The top tier is an 80-mile route through Capitol Reef National Park and Scenic Highway 12.
The Bicknell International Film Festival (or BIFF as it’s affectionately called) is a film experience unlike any other. Every July the best of the worst of cinema is collected and shown in the historic Wayne County Theatre. The motto says it all, “Better living through bad cinema.” Check out the festival’s website here.
We at the Lodge at Red River Ranch hope that you have a great summer vacation in 2013. If you are interested in what other activities are available in Wayne County, look at some of other blog posts.
