Summer and Lake Powell

Today is the first day of summer! This means people from all over will be searching for two things – fun and a way to cool off. We at the Lodge at Red River Ranch have a suggestion for how to accomplish both. Visit Lake Powell.

Lake Powell is located near in the desert country of Southern Utah. It is one of the largest man-made recreational lakes in the nation – over 180 miles long. Lake Powell is the perfect vacation destination this summer. Here’s what you can do while you’re there:

First and foremost, rent some boats. (If you don’t already have your own.) Get a couple of personal watercraft and a larger motorboat. And if you really want to party, go for a houseboat. Then you can sleep out on the lake.

Once you have the boats, you can water ski or board, go tubing, or just race around. We recommend that you take advantage of Lake Powell’s unique setting and explore all the little side canyons. Some are wide enough for watercraft, some you’ll have to swim into.

Rainbow Bridge is the largest natural, freestanding bridge in the world, and it is located near Lake Powell. It is only accessible by water and foot. We at the Lodge highly recommend you go for a hike and see this natural wonder while at Lake Powell.

In addition to motorized water fun, Lake Powell also offers great fishing. There are plenty of largemouth bass, walleye, carp, etc. to be caught.

Whatever you choose to do in Lake Powell, you will definitely have a good time doing it. And you’ll stay cool in the process. We hope you all have a great summer.
