This weekend Wayne County has the distinct honor of hosting another annual BIFF. BIFF (the Bicknell International Film Festival) is a celebration of a particular type of cinema – the B kind. Every year people come from all over the country to enjoy this weekend of movies. We at the Lodge at Red River Ranch encourage you to make BIFF an annual tradition.
Here is a schedule of the 2013 Bicknell International Film Festival. The theme is musicals. Welcome to “BIFF: The Musical, Singing in the Red Rocks, Bad, Bizarre and B.”
On Friday, July 18th the yearly “World’s Fastest Parade” starts the festival. Dress in your best costume – preferably something to do with the musical theme. The parade lines up in Torrey near the Red Cliff Restaurant, and leaves exactly at 6:00 pm.
Ride with (or follow) the parade to the Bicknell Theatre, and enjoy the first feature film: Cannibal: The Musical.
Stop by the Rim Rock Patio and check out the “Party of the Stars” after the show. There will be food and drinks and live music.
On Saturday, July 20th grab some lunch at the Bicknell Park between 12:00 noon and 1:45 pm. Join the musical challenge event, “Music Mania”
The second film is a matinee showing of The Little Shop of Horrors (a perfect cult classic.) The show starts at 2:00 pm.
You may want to check out the farmers market in Torrey while you wait for the third and final film to begin at 6:30 pm. The movie, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, will be followed by awards and the “It’s a Wrap Party.” The party takes place at the theatre and is a perfect way to end a perfectly awful film.
We at the Lodge hope you will have a great weekend at the BIFF. For tickets to the events, visit the BIFF website here.
